Land marks: The Mosque of Ahmad Ibn Tulun
According to Sacred Destination, 2014 Ibn Tulun is the oldest mosque in Egypt and one of the largest in the world. The Mosque (see figure 8.1) is famed for its amazing architecture. Ahmad Ibn Tulun constructed his mosque during 870 to 879 A.D. He ordered its construction as he wanted someplace to accommodate his troops. This mosque is one of the only mosques in Egypt to keep it original form.
